LCA Review

Why LCA Review ?

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) critical review is an essential process in the development and evaluation of an LCA study. It involves a systematic and independent assessment of the quality, reliability, and completeness of the LCA methodology, data, and results. The primary purpose of a critical review is to ensure that the LCA study is conducted according to recognised standards and guidelines, and that the findings are accurate and credible.

Our Previous Work

Review Process

Independent Assessment

A critical review is typically carried out by independent experts who are not directly involved in the LCA study. This independence helps ensure objectivity and impartiality.

Data Quality Assessment

Critical reviewers assess the quality and completeness of the data used in the LCA. This includes evaluating data sources, data collection methods, and the representation of uncertainties.

Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) Analysis

Assess the LCIA methodology used to translate inventory data into environmental impact results. They ensure that impact categories are considered appropriately and that the chosen characterisation factors are scientifically sound.

Review of Methodology

The critical reviewers examine the LCA methodology to verify that it adheres to established standards and guidelines, such as ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. They assess the appropriateness of the chosen system boundaries, functional units, and impact categories.

Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Analysis

Examine the life cycle inventory data to ensure that it accurately represents the inputs and outputs of the product or process throughout its life cycle. They check for data gaps and inconsistencies.

Completeness and Consistency

Check for the completeness and consistency of the LCA study. This includes ensuring that all relevant life cycle stages are included, that double counting is avoided, and that assumptions and choices are clearly documented.
